I have not played yet from Kirby Star_. While I have been a fan of Nintendo's character for quite some time, Kirby's previous main game seemed more from the same thing. When Nintendo revealed _kirby and the forgotten land, the first thing that caught my attention is that it seemed a great deviation for the series. The traditional lateral displacement game was abandoned in favor of a 3D style, while new game elements were added. After spending time playing the first world of _kirby and the forgotten land, I am pleased to say that it feels like a very necessary fresh air breath.
In _kirby and the forgotten land, Kirby should try to rescue the Waddle Dees that have been kidnapped and scattered around each area. To do so, Kirby can use the traditional copy skills, absorbing enemies and obtaining classic enhancers on the road. In the early stages, we see family skills, such as Sword, Bomb and Freeze, and work such as Kirby fanatics would expect them to do it. After rescuing Waddle dees at each stage, the characters move to a new area called Waddle Dee Town. The more Waddle dees rescued, the more the area will grow, giving players access to fun extras, such as a "Gotcha" machine full of trophies in the game. Here is also a weapons store, where Kirby can get improvements for copying skills.
In addition to traditional copy skills, pretegrea has also brought the new bite mode. Essentially, players will meet new things that Kirby can absorb, but that he actually can not swallow. Even before the title screen appears, the game presents the first element of the bite mode: a car. When Kirby puts his mouth around him, he can use it to drive or run over him enemies. Driving with Kirby's car is absolutely ridiculous, but it is also very fun. Some snack skills give Kirby offensive powers, like a soft drink machine that allows you to spit cans to enemies. Others, such as storage lockers and stairs, simply give Kirby an interesting way to find hidden tracks or roads in the surroundings. They are definitely less exciting, but they add a fun element to exploration.
Automobiles, refresher vending machines and storage lockers may not seem like the kind of things that would normally be found at Planet Popstar, but fit well with Threwierra and the levels found in the first world, Natural Plains. Time Teries forgotten seems quite light in history, it is quite evident that Natural Plains was once again inhabited by humans, or a race similar to human who has not existed for a long time. The ancient machinery is juxtapone with a lush vegetation, and it almost feels like something you would expect from The last of us. Despite the postapocalyptic environment, the presentation is as cheerful as it would be expected from a traditional Kirby game, with vibrant colors and an animated soundtrack. The cheerful atmosphere often made me think about _Super Mario 3D world and I say it as a great compliment.
Kirby Games have never been known for their challenge, but tranting forgotten actually offers two levels of difficulty: wild mode and Spring-Breeze mode. Until now, the wild mode has not presented me anything too difficult, but it feels a little more challenging, and I am interested in seeing if that increases in later worlds. If so, players can always change between the two modes in the pause menu. Speaking of the pause menu, players can also easily alternate between a player and cooperative. In cooperative mode, a second player can assume the role of Bandana Waddle Dee. This Waddle Dee uses a spear to attack, unlike Kirby's transformation skills; This generated a little envy on the part of my daughter, but the mode of two players is a fun inclusion, independently.
In my limited time with kirby and the forgotten land, I'm already very impressed. This feels like a great step forward for the series, which offers a new perspective, more to do and a slightly higher level of challenge for those who want it. But even with all the new options, it still feels full of all the elements that Kirby fanatics have come to love over the years. The game mode is fun, the graphics jump from the screen and it is a pleasure to play. When everything is said and done, I do not know if Kirby and the forgotten land will be classified with my personal favorite series entries, but I can not wait to see more than the game has to offer.
Kirby fans can find out it by themselves when Kirby and the forgotten land is thrown on March 25, exclusively in Nintendo Switch.
