The latest data published by the GFK market analysis firm reveal that during the month of February more than 93,000 consoles were sold in the United Kingdom, being Nintendo Switch the great winning.
This figure, however, is a fall of 24% compared to last January. The three platforms (PlayStation, Xbox and Switch) were affected by this, mainly due to stock problems, although in the case of the new generation consoles of Microsoft the figures are higher than in February last year.
In the case of Nintendo Switch, sales of the month of February are 30% lower than February 2021. However, GFK also points to being significantly higher than February 2019 and February 2020, before of the pandemic.
In general terms, sales of consoles in the United Kingdom have fallen 33.4% in what we have of year. According to analysts, the main reason is the stock shortage of PlayStation 5.
As regards the Software, Elden Ring was the best-selling video game of the month of February in the United Kingdom, also becoming the best premiere of a new IP from Tom Clancy's The Division in 2016. Horizon Forbidden West is in the second position, followed by By the Fifa Uncomplusable 22. Another of the great february novelties, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, is on the sixth position, and the seventh occupies it Total War: Warhammer III.
The data, however, point to a decrease of 14% compared to February 2021. In total, 1.46 million game units were sold last month, 17% less than last year. Sales in physicist, on the other hand, reached 900,000 copies, which represents a decrease of 9% compared to February 2021.
